Translation Act: The Translator’s Operational Norms

2015
The next phase, ‘Translation Act’, extrapolates the translator’s ‘Operational Norms’—those patterns in the text which reflect the translator’s behavior and the values that influence his or her decisions. The translator’s norms are analyzed under two overarching conditions: when the translator understands the source text, and when he may not have. Under

Spectral asymptotics for Schrödinger operator perturbed by translation operator

Izvestiya: Mathematics
We consider the one-dimensional Schrödinger operator on the unit segment with Dirichlet condition and perturb it by a translation operator. The main result describes the asymptotics of the eigenvalues of this operator with respect to the index counting the eigenvalues, the resulting asymptotics is uniform in the translation.

Translations of the Discrete Bose-Einstein Operators

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1966
The effects on a certain family of representations of the commutation relations of the operator-translations ak → ak + ck, ak* → ak* + ck*, are investigated. Here ak and ak* are the annihilation and creation operators of the representations, the ck are complex numbers (scalar operators), and the representations considered are the discrete ...

On a device in dictionary operations in machine translation

Proceedings of the 9th conference on Computational linguistics -, 1982
A special programme converting classes of words of international usage directly from English to Czech is described in its application in an experiment of machine translation as well as in general environments. The words undergo special morphemic analysis, they are adapted morphemically and orthographically to the target language form and, in the ...

Generalized translation operators

1954
A study is made of generalized translation operators of the Delsarte-Levitan-Povzner type. After reviewing the method of associating such operators with linear second order differential equations, an abstract theory is developed with the aim of constructing an L[subscript 1]-convolution algebra.
