Teaching reduction strategies in translation
Perspectives, 1998Abstract As learners, semi‐professional translators often lack a fully developed notion of ‘communication’, which in fact results in an element‐oriented attitude to translation. This article describes how communication in reduced oral language can pave the way for an understanding of the importance of the communicative aspect in translation.

Perspectives, 2000Abstract This article presents the Internet as a tool for translation. The article discusses the notion of translation‐relevant competence and demonstrates how Internet texts may be used to increase trainee translators’ genre and factual competences. Furthermore, the article introduces a method for working with Internet texts in translation training.
