Translog Normal - Half Normal Stochastic Frontier Production function–An application to Turmeric Production

International Journal of Mathematics Trends and Technology, 2014
The success of business at the farm level mainly depends on the Technical efficiency (TE) of the farm. There are evidences that several farms do not realize the full potential of technology due to factors such as their managerial skills and differences in production environments.

Aggregation biases in production functions: a panel data analysis of Translog models

Research in Economics, 2004
Abstract The value of panel data for micro-units in exploring aggregated relationships empirically is substantial, since such data are not only useful for estimation at both the micro- and the macro-level, but also allow comparison of properties of relationships aggregated formally from the micro-level with those resulting from aggregation by analogy

Approximation Properties and Estimation of the Translog Production Function with Panel Data

2000
This paper provides a general theoretical and methodological framework for the estimation of the translog production function using panel data. The estimation is carried out using generalised least squares estimator (random-effects model) under different maintained hypotheses for the underlying production technology. Our empirical results indicate that

Application of translog function to productivity estimation in Imo State, Nigeria

International Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development, 2006
The objectives of the study are to evaluate the impact of technology on productivity, and identify the factors limiting the use of improved agricultural technologies in Imo state, Nigeria. The study was carried out in Owerri and Orlu agricultural zones of the state. The method of systematic sampling was used in selecting the sample.

Input substitution in Canadian manufacturing: An application of the CES-translog production function

Atlantic Economic Journal, 1988
Since the introduction of "A Theory of Production," by C. Cobb and P. H. Douglas in 1928, the investigation of substitution possibilities among different inputs into production has been the subject of numerous studies. There has been a revitalized interest in the study of production frameworks, with a special focus on the examination of the ...

ESTIMATING EFFECTS OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND EXTENSION EXPENDITURES ON PRODUCTIVITY: A TRANSLOG PRODUCTION FUNCTION APPROACH

1984
The effects of agricultural research and extension expenditures on productivity in the United States are estimated during the period 1949-81 using data for ten production regions. The large time-series cross-sectional data base allows the translog production function to be estimated directly.

Testing the Monotonicity and Curvature of a Translog Production Function with Spatial Autoregressive Dependence

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
In this paper we extend the tests of the monotonicity and concavity of a non-spatial translog production function to the case where there is spatial autoregressive dependence. The tests are then applied using data for 40 European countries over the period 1995-2008.

INPUT USE EFFICIENCY IN PADDY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO WATER - A TRANSLOG PRODUCTION FUNCTION APPROACH

Madras Agricultural Journal, 1998
A study conducted in Krishnagiri Reservoir Project (KRP) in Tamil Nadu indicated that the water use efficiency in Navarai paddy was the highest in tail region with 32.85 kg/ha cm of water, followed by middle and head regions. Translog production functions were employed for each region to analyse the input use efficiency. The results clearly showed that
