Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

Clinical factors affecting the translucency of monolithic Y-TZP ceramics [PDF]
The use of monolithic yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) ceramics in aesthetically critical regions is questionable because of the insufficient translucency and opacity of the restorations.

The Comparative Evaluation of the Translucency of Crowns Fabricated with Three Different All-Ceramic Materials: An in Vitro Study [PDF]
Introduction: All-ceramic crowns with different core materials of different strength and aesthetics are available in recent years. The aesthetics of the crown depends mainly on the shade and translucency.

Effect of multiple firings on the color and translucency of monolithic zirconia
The effects of multiple firings on the color and translucency of monolithic zirconia were investigated in this paper. One hundred specimens were milled using three types of monolithic zirconia: multilayered zirconia (UTML, Katana) (UT), highly ...

Translucency of Dental Porcelains [PDF]
The translucency of comparable shades of five dental porcelains was determined. Both direct transmittance and total transmittance were measured at wavelengths of 400 - 700 nm. For 1 mm of porcelain, the values for direct transmittance were low and averaged 0.13 percent, whereas the values for total transmittance averaged 26.8 percent.

Janus Photonic Graphics by Stratified Assembly of Two Distinct Colloids
Double‐sided Janus photonic micropatterns with vivid structural colors are fabricated through a single‐step bottom‐up strategy. Density‐driven stratification and depletion‐mediated crystallization of PMMA and PS binary colloids lead to exclusive lattices on opposite surfaces under centrifugal force.

Weekly nuchal translucency measurements in normal fetuses
To examine the longitudinal course of nuchal translucency thickness by weekly measurements between 10 and 15 weeks' gestation in normal fetuses. Nuchal translucency was measured weekly from 10 to 15 weeks' gestation in 64 fetuses with normal pregnancy ...

Does Motion Increase Perceived Magnitude of Translucency? [PDF]
The visual mechanisms behind our ability to distinguish translucent and opaque materials is not fully understood. Disentanglement of the contributions of surface reflectance and subsurface light transport to the still image structure is an ill-posed ...
