Computing reflection and transmission coefficients for plate reinforcement beams

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we investigate the possibility of obtaining experimentally the reflection and transmission coefficients for propagating bending waves in infinite thin plates caused by a reinforcing beam that is flexibly connected to the plate.

Measurement of Reflection and Transmission Coefficients Using Finite Impulse Response Least-Squares Estimation

open access: yes, 2020
A measurement technique to reduce the error of measured frequency-domain reflection and transmission coefficients, in particular, scattering parameters (S-parameters) measured with a vector network analyzer (VNA), and load reflection coefficients ...

An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

Reflection and Transmission Coefficients from Rectangular Notches in Pipes

open access: yesStrojniški vestnik – Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2015
The use of a single, non-dispersive ultrasonic guided wave mode is one important approach to monitoring a structure’s health. It is advantageously non-destructive with the ability of propagating over tens of metres to detect a hidden defect. The dimensional assessment of a defect, on the other hand, requires reflection coefficients for two or more such

Disentangling Bulk and Surface Contributions to Charge and Discharge Fading in High‐Voltage LiCoO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐voltage operation of LiCoO2 accelerates capacity fading through bulk and surface degradation. By introducing a LiTaO3 coating to selectively suppress surface degradation, bulk and surface contributions to charge and discharge fading are decoupled.

Analytical and Numerical Investigations Applied to Study the Reflections and Transmissions of a Rectangular Breakwater Placed at the Bottom of a Wave Tank

open access: yesGeosciences, 2021
The purpose of the work presented in this paper is to study the reflection and transmission coefficients resulting from the interactions of regular waves with a rectangular breakwater sited at the bottom of a tank. The present investigation is devoted to

Gradient‐Conductivity Architecture Enables Synchronous Enhancement of Sensitivity and Detection Range in Multifunctional All‐Paper Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gradient‐engineered all‐paper sensor is fabricated by integrating MXene and in situ grown AgNPs within hierarchical cellulose networks. The device breaks the sensitivity–detection range trade‐off through cascaded conductive pathways, enabling ultrahigh pressure sensitivity, humidity–pressure decoupled dual‐mode sensing, and outstanding EMI shielding,

Reservoir‐Driven Neuromorphic Computing Based on Composite Rare‐Earth/Transition Metal Oxide Memristor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A defect‐engineered Ag/Gd2O3:Nb2O5/Pt rare earth composite oxide memristor enables stable multilevel reservoir states through pulse driven conductance modulation. Experimentally measured device responses are incorporated into a device aware reservoir computing framework for CIFAR‐100 image classification, highlighting the potential of rare earth ...
