Coulomb blockade at almost perfect transmission
We study the equilibrium properties of a quantum dot connected to a bulk lead by a single-mode quantum point contact. The ground state energy and other thermodynamic characteristics of the grain show periodic dependence on the gate voltage (Coulomb ...

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Experimental study on hydrodynamic characteristics of a taut moored floating box
To investigate the hydrodynamic capabilities of the floating breakwater with a taut mooring system, a two-dimensional physical modelling experiment was performed to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of the hydrodynamic pressure on the front ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Enhanced Transmission Due to Disorder
The transmissivity of a one-dimensional random system that is periodic on average is studied. It is shown that the transmission coefficient for frequencies corresponding to a gap in the band structure of the average periodic system increases with ...

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Transmission of an optical wave through a multilayer structure with dispersive chiral layers
Background. The using of mirror asymmetric chemical compounds for doping quartz makes it possible to metamaterial creation that has the chirality property. In such a compositional structure, unusual effects may arise when interacting with an optical wave.
