Fractional Sturm-Liouville operators on compact star graphs

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
In this article, we examine two problems: a fractional Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem on a compact star graph and a fractional Sturm-Liouville transmission problem on a compact metric graph, where the orders αi{\alpha }_{i} of the fractional ...

The Activation Conditions of the Transmission Protection Instrument: Flawed by Design?

open access: yesIntereconomics, 2023
In 2022, the European Central Bank (ECB) introduced the Transmission Protection Instrument (TPI) to counter the risk of financial fragmentation following the normalisation of monetary policy. The ECB has specified conditions under which the TPI can be activated. This paper examines these conditions and concludes that the activation conditions cannot be

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A comparison of impedance boundary conditions for flow acoustics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Acoustic liners remain a key technology for reducing community noise from aircraft engines. The choice of optimal impedance relies heavily on the modeling of sound absorption by liners under grazing flows.

Hierarchical structures emerge from the cultural transmission: an iterated learning experiment using a non-linguistic task

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence, 2023
Human language is characterized by complex structural features, such as the hierarchical combination of words to form sentences. Although other animals use communication systems, empirical evidence of hierarchical structures is rare.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Condition Monitoring Method for Automatic Transmission Clutches [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Prognostics and Health Management, 2012
This paper presents the development of a condition monitoring method for wet friction clutches which might be useful for automatic transmission applications.

Environment condition around transmission towers not fit for livelihood

open access: yesEnvironment Conservation Journal, 2003
Influence of radio frequency (RF) and mircowave radiation on human body is studied. According to Rai (1992) radio and T.V. transmission towers of Varanasi, which are located in thickly populated area, are causing health hazards problems to the people ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Transmissibility of Mycoplasma Dispar under Experimental Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1987
Twenty three 1- to 18-week old Ayrshire calves were exposed to infection by Mycoplasma dispar, 1 or 2 at a time, in a series of consecutive experiments. Exposure took place either at direct contact, i. e. with the possibility of physical contact between susceptible and infected calves (type I), or through separation of susceptibles from the nearest ...
