Delayed Channel State Information: Incremental Redundancy with Backtrack Retransmission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In many practical wireless systems, the Signal-to-Interference-and-Noise Ratio (SINR) that is applicable to a certain transmission, referred to as Channel State Information (CSI), can only be learned after the transmission has taken place and is thereby outdated (delayed). For example, this occurs under intermittent interference. We devise the backward

Analysis of Temperature and Stress Distribution on the Bond Properties of Hybrid Tailored Formed Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid materials enable high‐performance components but are challenging to process. This study explores an inductive heating concept with spray cooling for steel–aluminum specimens in a two‐step process including friction welding and cup backward extrusion.

Wireless Information and Power Transfer with Full Duplex Relaying [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We consider a dual-hop full-duplex relaying system, where the energy constrained relay node is powered by radio frequency signals from the source using the time-switching architecture, both the amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward relaying protocols are studied.

Synergistic Effects of Cerium and Magnesium on Optimizing Electrical Conductivity and Mechanical Properties of AlSi3 Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of Ce and/or Mg on the electrical conductivity (EC) and mechanical properties of AlSi3 cast alloy. It highlights the synergistic effects of Ce and Mg on eutectic Si modification and Mg solute reduction in the Al matrix, resulting in the optimization of EC, strength, and ductility of the alloy.

Strongly connected dominating set construction algorithm balancing time delay and energy consumption

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2012
To the asymmetry of link in wireless sensor networks,a problem about the strongly connected dominating tree with bounded transmission delay (SDTT) was put forward. The distributed strongly connected dominating tree (SCDT) algorithm was also proposed to ...

Edge Computing and Dynamic Vision Sensing for Low Delay Access to Visual Medical Information [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A new method is proposed to decrease the transmission delay of visual and non-visual medical records by using edge computing and Dynamic Vision Sensing (DVS) technologies. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can decrease the transmission delay by 89.15% to 93.23%.

An Examination of Aerosol Jet‐Printed Surface Roughness and its Impact on the Performance of High‐Frequency Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

From Nature to Engineering: Mortar Volume and Interfacial Mechanics in Bioinspired Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural armors like nacre, this study explores how varying the volume fraction of the soft mortar layer impacts the interfacial strength and toughness of bioinspired ceramics. Experimental and computational analysis reveals that higher mortar volumes increase energy dissipation but reduce interfacial stiffness, offering insights for ...
