Pricing Transmission Services Efficiently
The Electricity Journal, 2000Abstract Electricity pricing architectures must encompass transmission—including connection and transport services—in a market design in which transmission services are inseparable from generation services. Some element of locational dimensionality is also crucial to an efficient pricing architecture.

Efficient access transmission pricing
The Electricity Journal, 1996Abstract Steering between the whirlpool (postage stamp rates) and the rock (distance-sensitive pricing), efficient access pricing tends to discourage actions that increase loadings on the bulk power transmission system and encourage actions that reduce loadings. And it does so without the harm to competition that other approaches might cause.

Burst Transmission in Energy Efficient Ethernet
IEEE Internet Computing, 2010The proposed Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard reduces energy consumption by defining two operation modes for transmitters and receivers: active and low power. Burst transmission can provide additional energy savings when EEE is used. Collecting data frames into large-sized data bursts for back-to-back transmission maximizes the time an EEE ...

High-efficiency fused-silica transmission gratings
Optics Letters, 1997We describe the design, fabrication, and performance of high-efficiency transmission gratings fabricated in bulk fused silica for use in high-power ultraviolet laser systems. The gratings exhibit a diffraction efficiency of 94% in order m=-1 and a damage threshold greater than 13>J/cm( 2) for 3-ns pulses at 351 nm.

High-efficiency embedded transmission grating
SPIE Proceedings, 2015In this study, we present high efficiency embedded gratings produced by atomic layer deposition (ALD). The chosen embedding material is a nanolaminate, which consists of alternating arranged titanium dioxide (TiO2) and alumina (Al2O3) layers, where the TiO2 layers are by a factor of 25 thicker than the Al2O3 layers.

Energy efficient transmission techniques for LTE
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2013The goal of the European ICT Project EARTH is to enhance energy efficiency of current LTE cellular networks by 50 percent, enabling operators to provide more extensive coverage, namely to less densely populated areas, while ensuring high levels of efficiency, hence, reducing the carbon footprint. In order to achieve this objective, different strategies,
