Energy-efficient compressed address transmission

18th International Conference on VLSI Design held jointly with 4th International Conference on Embedded Systems Design, 2005
To realize energy-efficient buses in current nanometer-scale technologies, techniques like compression or encoding that exploit information redundancy have been explored. However, available compression techniques for buses do not always ensure energy-efficient transmission of compressed information.

Transmission and the Determinants of Transmission Efficiency

2014
Bacteria within the order Rickettsiales would have little impact on human and veterinary medicine in the absence of the arthropod vector. Interestingly, the influence of primary infections with one Rickettsia sp. can influence the success of transovarial transmission of a second.

Efficient remote transmission line probe tuning

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1990
AbstractAn approach is described which allows remote tuning of a probe via a length of transmission line, while retaining nearly ideal efficiency relative to the equivalent locally tuned coil. This preservation of efficiency is accomplished through the principle of “partial local matching.” In comparison to common methods of remote tuning which involve

Energy efficient coding and transmission

IEEE VTS 53rd Vehicular Technology Conference, Spring 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37202), 2002
Efficient transmission of multimedia signals from energy limited portable devices requires a fresh look at the tradeoffs between source compression, channel coding and transmission strategies. We provide optimum operating points in terms of end-to-end source distortion and total energy consumption of the mobile due to compression, channel coding and ...

SDM for Power Efficient Transmission

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
We discuss the principles behind the use of space division multiplexing for power efficient transmission in optical fiber communication systems. Experimental demonstration of these principles are realized in a multicore fiber transmission system.

Ultra-High-Spectral-Efficiency Transmission

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2010
We discuss the generation, transmission, and coherent detection of 14-Gbaud polarization-division multiplexed, 16-ary quadrature-amplitude-modulation (16-QAM) signals (112-Gb/s line rate). We attain 630-km and 1020-km wavelength-division-multiplexed transmission with spectral efficiencies of 6.2 b/s/Hz and 4.1 b/s/Hz, respectively.

Transmission-line impedance and efficiency

Electrical Engineering, 1953
FOR RADIO-FREQUENCY transmission lines the Smith chart is often employed in making impedance calculations. In some cases the standing-wave ratio is very high and the resistance cannot be read accurately on the chart. Means are shown herein for computing the resistance, while the chart is used for reactance.
