Vector Competence of Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Culex quinquefasciatus from Brazil and New Caledonia for Three Zika Virus Lineages

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Zika virus (ZIKV) has caused severe epidemics in South America beginning in 2015, following its spread through the Pacific. We comparatively assessed the vector competence of ten populations of Aedes aegypti and Ae.

Shielding the magnetic field of wireless power transfer system using zero-permeability metamaterial

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
The wireless power transfer (WPT) has attracted considerable attention due to its convenience and reliability. However, the electromagnetic leakage of WPT can be harmful to humans and environment.

Research on transmission characteristics of magnetically coupled resonant wireless power transfer system

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2020
In view of the influence of coil parameters and load resistance changes on transmission performance of magnetically coupled resonant wireless power transfer(MCR-WPT) system, output power and efficiency of the system are derived using equivalent circuit ...

Efficiency and information transmission in bilateral trading [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Economic Dynamics, 2019
Abstract We study pairwise trading mechanisms in the presence of one-sided or two-sided private information and two-sided limited commitment, whereby either trader can walk away from a proposed trade when he learns the trading price. We show that when one trader's information is relevant for the other trader's value of the asset, optimal trading ...

Secure and Efficient Video Transmission in VANET

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication Networks and Information Security (IJCNIS), 2022
Currently, vehicular communications have become a reality used by various applications, especially applications that broadcast video in real time. However, the video quality received is penalized by the poor characteristics of the transmission channel (availability, non-stationarity, the ration of signal-to-noise, etc.).

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Mutualism effectiveness and vertical transmission of symbiotic fungal endophytes in response to host genetic background

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, 2012
Certain species of the Pooideae subfamily develop stress tolerance and herbivory resistance through symbiosis with vertically transmitted, asexual fungi.
