Transmission Electron Microscopy

Current Protocols in Microbiology, 2006
AbstractTransmission electron microscopy has long been an important analytical tool in the field of microbiology. This unit describes preparation techniques for examining particulate samples as well as samples presenting more complex ultrastructural considerations that require analysis in thin sections.

Transmission Electron Microscopy of Endothelium

2022
Transmission electron microscopy using resin sections still remains an exceptionally useful tool in evaluating cellular ultrastucture within tissue. For the endothelium the best method for maintaining such structure is perfusion fixation: fixing the tissue under physiological pressure.

Cathodoluminescence in transmission electron microscopy

Journal of Microscopy, 2006
SummaryWe describe a cathodoluminescence spectrometer that is attached to an analytical transmission electron microscope. After a brief consideration of the set‐up and the peculiarities of recording spectra and of mapping defect distributions in panchromatic and monochromatic cathodoluminescence, we discuss two examples of applications.

Transmission Electron Microscopy of Bone

2011
This chapter describes procedures to process mineralized tissues obtained from different sources for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Methods for fixation, resin embedding, staining of semi-thin sections and ultrathin sections are presented. In addition, attention will be paid to processing of cultured bone explants for TEM analysis.
