Error Transmission in Mixture Experiments
2004In this paper we propose explicit models of mean and variance of a mixture performance characteristic for the case when the mixture amounts are set with errors in the production process. They are based on Taylor expansion up to third order terms of a mixture model expressed through the component amounts.

The Derivation of Gear Transmission Error from Pitch Error Records
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Mechanical Engineering Science, 1985The effect of pitch errors on the transmission error of a gear pair has been much studied. In particular, it has been thought that, if pitch error alone is present, the frequency spectrum of the corresponding transmission error will have no components either at the tooth contact frequency or any of its harmonics. This result is here examined, and it is

Creativity: relation to neural transmission errors
Kybernetes, 2011PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to compare creativity and psychometric IQ and to explain why creativity is often related to mental disturbances.Design/methodology/approachThe approach taken is that of theoretical analysis.FindingsPsychometric IQ is found to be related to low probability of neural transmission errors.

Error concealment for MPEG video transmissions
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1997Packet loss is a critical problem for video transmission on packet-switched networks. An error compensation method called the modified boundary matching algorithm is developed for recovering lost video due to packet loss at the video decoder. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method preserves good image quality even when the cell loss ...

MPEG coding for error-resilient transmission
Fifth International Conference on Image Processing and its Applications, 1995We describe a novel layered coding scheme in which MPEG encoded video data is split into layers according to the class of each coded picture. We investigate the tolerance of each layer to bit error effects. We conclude that the separate layers can tolerate different error rates.

Design System for Composite Transmission Error Prediction for Automatic Transmissions
Volume 4: 24th Computers and Information in Engineering Conference, 2004Noise in vehicular automatic transmissions is a complex phenomenon involving several interacting factors. One of the contributing factors to noise for a single pair of meshing gears has been shown to be the transmission error. The transmission error (TE) is defined in terms of deviation of the speed ratio from the ideal speed ratio.

Error correction in data transmission systems
Journal of the British Institution of Radio Engineers, 1962The use of the existing telephone and telegraph networks as data transmission media is discussed with special reference to the correction of errors. These networks as they stand are far from ideal for data transmission because the high-level noise pulses and short interruptions which are relatively unimportant for normal usage cause errors in data ...

Error bursts in transmission channels
1993A Markov model due to Gilbert and Elliot is used for describing error bursts in transmission channels. We compute several quality meausres of the CCITT for digital transmissions in terms of the parameters of the Markov model. Computer algebra turns out to be useful for manipulation of large formulae, for Taylor expansion and for handling special ...
