Acoustic transmission loss in Hilbert fractal metamaterials. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2023
AbstractAcoustic metamaterials are increasingly being considered as a viable technology for sound insulation. Fractal patterns constitute a potentially groundbreaking architecture for acoustic metamaterials. We describe in this work the behaviour of the transmission loss of Hilbert fractal metamaterials used for sound control purposes. The transmission

Evaluation of the Effect of Uncertainties on the Acoustic Behavior of a Porous Material Located in a Duct Element Using the Monte Carlo Method [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2023
When studying porous materials, most acoustical and geometrical parameters can be affected by the presence of uncertainties, which can reduce the robustness of models and techniques using these parameters. Hence, there is a need to evaluate the effect of

Transmission losses in left-handed materials [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2002
We numerically analyze the origin of the transmission losses in left-handed structures. Our data confirms that left handed structures can have very good transmission properties, in spite of the expectable dispersion of their effective permeability and refraction index. The large permittivity of the metallic components improves the transmission.
