Intrasystem Transmission Losses
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1943THIS paper describes a new method of calculating transmission losses within power systems. Reasonable accuracy is obtained with longhand calculation, although the same general scheme with the load-flow determinations carried out on a d-c calculating board would provide greater accuracy with less work.

Quantum theory of laser transmission loss
Physical Review A, 1989A semiclassical treatment of the radiation loss in a laser, previously investigated by Baseia and Nussenzveig (Opt. Acta 31, 39 (1984)), is extended to the quantum-theory level. The model employs an optical cavity having an output coupling that includes the radiation loss due to the beam extraction through appropriate boundary conditions, instead of ...

Transmission losses are determined for 20 wire ropes commonly used in crane and hoist practice. The apparatus and procedure used in determining the losses are described and the results are presented in the form of graphs. From these graphs the law governing the losses is established.

Low-Loss Waveguide Transmission
Proceedings of the IRE, 1953The circular electric mode in round metallic tubing becomes increasingly more attractive than the dominant mode from the standpoint of minimzing the waveguide size at frequencies above about 10,000 mc for the loss criterion of 0.25 db/100 feet. The circular electric (TE01) mode also makes available a theoretical heat loss of 2 db/mile in waveguides ...

Transmission loss allocation using normalized loss weight factors
2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008One of the major problems in liberalized power markets is loss allocation. In this paper, a new method for allocating transmission losses to pool market participants is proposed. The proposed method is fundamentally based on Bialek's "Tracing the flow of electricity" method.

Acoustic transmission through orthotropic multilayered plates, part II: Transmission loss
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1978An expression for the transmission loss by finite, viscoelastic and orthotropic multilayered plates, is presented. It is based on the development of a method to calculate the transmission loss based on a combination of statistical and deterministic approaches, and on the determination of vibration modes of orthotropic multilayered plates (Part I ...

The measurement of sound transmission loss of panels with small transmission loss
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1965Abstract The transmission room method for the measurement of transmission loss is reviewed and the lower limits of validity established. An alternative method for measuring low loss panels is described.

Background subtraction for low-loss transmission electron energy-loss spectroscopy
Ultramicroscopy, 2002We present a technique for removing the zero-loss background from electron energy-loss spectra at very low energies (down to approximately 2eV), generating results that are superior in a number of ways to the results of standard Fourier deconvolution techniques.

Troposcatter transmission loss prediction
1982 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005A new method has been developed for the prediction of transmission loss in troposcatter communication system. The proposed method is based on the wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering channel model of the troposphere. The delay power spectral density function (DPSDF) of the received signal has been constructed.
