Optimal Design of Steel Transmission Poles
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1996Design of steel transmission poles is formulated as an optimization problem by identifying design variables, a cost function, and constraints. Nonlinearities in structural response calculations due to large deflections are included in the formulation.

Reliability Analysis of Wood Transmission Poles
Journal of the Structural Division, 1982The feasibility of probability-based design procedures for electrical transmission lines is discussed. Single pole structures have been selected in this initial study because of their simplicity as well as the lack of consistency in their design procedures.

Finite Element Analysis on the Steel Transmission Pole
Advanced Materials Research, 2012At present, the finite element method is used to calculate the strength and deformation of the steel transmission pole less. Using ANSYS to model steel transmission pole, loading, analysis, the results show that, the traditional method of strength calculation and finite element analysis results are very close, the traditional method of deformation ...

Lightning Investigation on a Wood Pole Transmission Line
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1931The purpose of this paper is to report the results of an investigation made on a wood pole line. The entire line was originally very highly insulated. The splintering of the structures by lightning indicated that excessively high voltages were appearing quite frequently. Because of the high insulation a cathode ray oscillograph station was installed on

Wood-Pole 230-Kv Transmission Lines
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1943STEEL has been comparatively cheap in the United States and, until recently, available in quantity. Consequently the use of steel structures for supporting the higher-voltage transmission lines has been favored by transmission engineers. However, since conservation of critical materials has become necessary, it is essential that designs incorporating ...

Reliability analysis of pole-type transmission structures
Computers & Structures, 1988Abstract The unguyed single-pole transmission structure is widely used in the U.S. to support transmission lines of up to 345 kV capacity. Most poles are naturally grown wood, but some poles of prestressed concrete and some of steel are used, especially in high decay or high load situations. The resistance of each structure is a random variable which

Analysis and design of single-pole transmission structures
Computers & Structures, 1988Abstract The unguyed single-pole transmission structure is widely used to support transmission lines of up to 345 kV capacity. Most such structures are wood poles, although prestressed concrete poles and tubular steel poles are sometimes used in high decay or high load situations.

Dominant Pole Synthesis of Transmission Line Networks
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1969This paper describes a procedure for synthesizing transmission networks which are interconnections of uniform line elements. An iterative, digital computer algorithm is developed which achieves a dominant pole synthesis. The line lengths and the characteristic impedances are controlled individually, which gives design flexibility not found in synthesis

Structural Optimization of Transmission Line of Steel Poles
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012For the structural optimization of transmission line of steel pipe poles, the structural mass was considered the objective of the economic optimization, the taper of shaft and then the thickness of each wall with the taper of shaft were successively regarded as the design variables, established mathematical modal of transmission line of steel-pipe pole.

DC Pole to Pole Short Circuit Fault Analysis in VSC-HVDC Transmission System
2018 Twentieth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2018Voltage Source Converter High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) transmission technology is widely used in electrical power transmission over very long distances. Those systems are subjected to different types of faults that have an effect on the electricity deliver continuity and reduce the device reliability. DC line faults are public in HVDC systems,
