Non-Rectangular Dynamic Range of the Drive System: A New Approach for the Choice of Motor and Transmission

open access: yesMachines, 2019
This paper deals with the choice of the motor-transmission couple to drive a joint in the frequent case in which the limit curve of the dynamic operating range of the drive system depends on the motor speed.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

What sizes of droplets contribute to long-range airborne transmission?

open access: yesIndoor Environments
The size range of respiratory droplets contributing to long-range airborne transmission of infections determines the targeted intervention methods. However, the exact size range remains unknown, and the influencing parameters are also undetermined. Here,

Hyper-Selective Plasmonic Color Filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The subwavelength mode volumes of plasmonic filters are well matched to the small size of state-of-the-art active pixels (~ 1 {\mu}m) in CMOS image sensor arrays used in portable electronic devices.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Broadband Coherent Enhancement of Transmission and Absorption in Disordered Media

open access: yes, 2015
We study the optimal diffusive transmission and absorption of broadband or polychromatic light in a disordered medium. By introducing matrices describing broadband transmission and reflection, we formulate an extremal eigenvalue problem where the optimal
