On the performance of an ATM switch with multichannel transmission groups
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1993A routing architecture applying the concept of multichannel transmission groups (MCTGs) for ATM systems is proposed. A queuing analysis of an internally nonblocking ATM switch employing this MCTG concept with partially shared output buffers is presented. The analysis is based on the discrete-time D/sup /A///D/c/B queuing model.

A bilevel approach to transmission switching
2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013), 2013With the development of smart grid and the increasing penetration of intermittent generation such as wind and solar, transmission network must be operated more effectively and flexible. Transmission switching has been explored in some literature as an effective mean to reduce dispatch cost.

An NMOS telephone codec for transmission and switching applications
IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1979This paper describes a monolithic high-feature per-channel companded PCM coder/decoder (codec) and implications of the advanced architecture for fixed and variable time-slot applications. Technology tradeoffs are identified, and implementation of the critical analog circuit functions in n -channel MOS technology is discussed. These circuits include the

Multiuser switched diversity transmission
IEEE 60th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC2004-Fall. 2004, 2005In this paper, a set of multiuser access schemes are proposed based on switched diversity algorithms originally devised to select between antennas in a spatial diversity system. Instead of relying on feedback from all the users in a multiuser communication system to identify the best user on a time-slot basis (having the best channel quality among all ...

Buckling-induced transmission switching in phononic waveguides
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023On-chip phononic circuits tailor the transmission of elastic waves and couple to electronics and photonics to enable new signal manipulation capabilities. Phononic circuits rely on waveguides that transmit elastic waves within desired frequency passbands, which are typically designed based on the Bloch modes of the constitutive unit cell of the ...

Optimal transmission switching analysis and marginal switching results
2011 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2011Strategically removing transmission lines from service has been shown to produce significant system cost savings. This optimization of the transmission network topology is known as transmission switching. The mixed-integer linear programming problem presented by Optimal Transmission Switching is too complex to solve on large systems in real time. Here,

Transmission line switching surges
Electrical Engineering, 1959RECENT IMPROVEMENTS in arrester impulse protective levels have permitted the application of power apparatus having insulation reduced two voltage classes on well-grounded systems where 75% or 80% arresters can be applied. Although the insulation of such apparatus can be adequately protected against impulse voltages, the adequacy of lightning arresters ...

Transmission congestion management through optimal transmission switching
2011 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2011In both restructured and vertically integrated power systems, it is desirable to transmit power to remote locations without causing any congestion and consequently avoiding inefficiency in generation dispatch. In this paper, in order to relieve network congestion, transmission switching is employed as a powerful tool to change network topology which ...

Approximate optimal transmission switching
Electric Power Systems Research, 2018Abstract Optimal transmission switching (OTS) has been proposed as a new control paradigm to improve the economics of electric power systems. The problem is formulated as mixed integer linear programming in which binary decision variables are used to represent the on and off state of transmission lines.
