Effects of Tower-Line Coupling on Seismic Vibration Control of Large Crossing Transmission Tower-Line System with TMD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2011
At present, the effect of tower-line coupling is neglected in seismic vibration control with TMD for transmission tower-line system. However, for large crossing transmission tower-line system(LCTL), the neglect can affect the performance of TMD. In this study, a typical FEM model of LCTL is established.

Galloping of Transmission Tower-Line System and Anti-Galloping Research

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2010
A nonlinear finite element model of transmission tower-line coupling system including transmissions, towers and insulators is established based on ANSYS in this paper. The restarting technology is proposed to solve the vertical, horizontal and torsional galloping of the transmission conductors.

Strain Rate Effect on Transmission Tower-Line System under Earthquake

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2011
Using ABAQUS software, three dimensional finite element model of a transmission tower-line system is created. Nonlinear seismic responses under three seismic records with and without strain rate effect are studied. The results show that the strain rate effect on the transmission tower-line system is more obvious with an increase in intensity of the ...

Uncertainty Analysis of the Dynamic Responses of a Transmission Tower-Line System Subjected to Cable Rupture

Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2021
Because transmission tower-line systems are always exposed to the natural environment, such structures are vulnerable to various meteorological conditions, and the rupture of a transmission...

DYNAMIC RESPONSES OF TRANSMISSION TOWER-LINE SYSTEM UNDER ICE SHEDDING

open access: yesInternational Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2010
Ice shedding from conductors may easily induce electrical and mechanical accidents, which cause a serious threat to the safe operation of transmission lines. In this paper, a 3D finite element model of tower-conductor-ground wire-insulator system was established in ANSYS, and the dynamic responses of ice shedding under different cases were analyzed ...

Dynamic Response of Conductor Breakage for Oxytropis Transmission Tower-Line System

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2010
Dynamic response of conductor breakage is analyzed on guyed oxytropis transmission tower-line system of 500KV 5291 JinJiang-Zhenjiang lines. Considering unbalanced tension, finite element method is presented. Result of the transient analysis shows that the vibration of tower-line system happens after conductor breakage.

Dynamic Behavior of Transmission Tower-Line Systems Subjected to Insulator Breakage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2018
Ice loads attached to a transmission tower-line system can not only increase the vertical loads on the insulators, but also cause flashover to occur more easily. Both effects can lead to an increased probability of insulator breakage. In this paper, a finite-element model of a transmission tower-line system with three towers and four span lines under ...
