Ultimate capacity analysis of transmission tower line system under wind load

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environment, 2021
As an important part of the large complex lifeline system, the transmission tower line system has many accidents. Based on the static and dynamic calculation theory, the response of the structure is analyzed, the ultimate capacity of the transmission ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Experiment Study on Dynamic Effects of Tower-Line Systems Induced by Ice Shedding

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Taking the 220 kV transmission line as the prototype, a test model of the double-span tower-line system with a scale ratio of 1 : 20 was proposed on the basis of dynamic similarity theory. 14 different working conditions including zippered, simultaneous,

Seismic Response of Power Transmission Tower‐Line System Subjected to Spatially Varying Ground Motions [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2010
The behavior of power transmission tower‐line system subjected to spatially varying base excitations is studied in this paper. The transmission towers are modeled by beam elements while the transmission lines are modeled by cable elements that account for the nonlinear geometry of the cables.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Research on Transmission Line Vibration Based on the Dynamic Response of Strain in Straight Tower Cross Arm Structure Under Wind–Ice Loads

open access: yesEnergies
Under ice and wind loads, transmission conductors undergo varying degrees of displacement, with larger displacements potentially causing direct damage to the transmission tower–line system and posing serious safety hazards.

Wind-induced collapse analysis of long-span transmission tower–line system considering the member buckling effect

open access: yes, 2018
The collapse problem of transmission tower upon strong winds was well noted in past few years. This article analyses the wind-induced collapse problem of a long-span transmission tower–line system. The member buckling effect was particularly considered.
