Lattice transmission tower analysis: beyond simple truss model

open access: yes, 2002
The advances in the transmission line analysis tools were discussed. These advances gave the designer the ability to better define the structural performance of transmission line towers.

Strain Rate Effect on Transmission Tower-Line System under Earthquake

open access: yes, 2011
Using ABAQUS software, three dimensional finite element model of a transmission tower-line system is created. Nonlinear seismic responses under three seismic records with and without strain rate effect are studied.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Analysis and Design of Transmission Tower with Isolated Footing

open access: yes
A transmission tower is a tall structure, usually a steel lattice tower used to support an overhead power line. They are used in high voltage AC and DC systems.

Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.

Optimization of uplift capacity of transmission tower foundations

open access: yes, 2017
Transmission tower lines using lattice towers and concrete foundations are the common practice in most of the countries all over the world. A significant amount of the cost of the transmission tower line is spent for the tower foundation construction ...

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Building of a Composite Transmission Tower

open access: yes, 1997
This paper will study the feasibility of building a transmission tower from a composite material, E-glass and Vinylester. The tower was fabricated using a fabrication process called pultrusion.

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...
