From Single Forces to Integrated Signals: A Systematic Review of Endothelial Responses to Multifactorial Mechanics

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 6, Issue 4, October 2026.
Endothelial cells are concurrently exposed to shear stress (SS), substrate stiffness (ES), and cyclic strain (CS), stimuli that converge on vascular beds. Application of a single stimulus produces specific responses that do not necessarily match the combined application of these forces.

S100A8/A9‐High Macrophages Activate Intestinal Fibroblasts via mCCL6/hCCL15‐CCR1 Axis to Drive Intestinal Fibrosis in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 53, 24 September 2026.
S100A8/A9‐high macrophages are markedly enriched in the stenotic intestinal tissue of patients with Crohn's disease. These profibrotic macrophages secrete mCCL6 in a STAT3‐dependent manner. mCCL6 and its human ortholog hCCL15 activate fibroblasts via the CCR1 receptor, thereby driving excessive collagen deposition.

Drug‐coated balloons: From conventional designs to next‐generation innovations in vascular therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
This review traces the evolution of drug‐coated balloons (DCBs) from conventional designs to next‐generation platforms. We highlight innovations in balloon engineering, coating technologies, and therapeutic agents that enhance localized drug delivery while addressing challenges in efficiency, safety, and biocompatibility for vascular and emerging non ...

Mesenchymal Stem Cells Alleviate Crohn's Disease by Regulating CBS‐Mediated Ferroptosis

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
MSCs alleviate CD by regulating CBS‐mediated ferroptosis. Bioinformatics analysis identified CBS as a hub gene shared by CD and ferroptosis. In TNBS‐induced colitis mice, MSCs treatment alleviated intestinal inflammation by upregulating CBS expression, increasing GSH and GPX4 levels, and inhibiting ferroptosis.

Improvement of Cardiac Stem Cell Sheet Therapy for Chronic Ischemic Injury by Adding Endothelial Progenitor Cell Transplantation: Analysis of Layer-Specific Regional Cardiac Function

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2014
The transplantation of cardiac stem cell sheets (CSC sheets) is a promising therapeutic strategy for ischemic cardiomyopathy, although potential ischemia in the transplanted area remains a problem.
