Fluctuating pressures on fan blades of a turbofan engine, flight test investigation [PDF]

open access: yes
Miniature pressure transducers were used to measure the fluctuating pressure on the fan blades of a JT15D engine in flight to aid in understanding fan-noise generation.

TADF‐Emitting Dendrimers for Scalable Bar‐Coating Fabrication of Light‐Emitting Electrochemical Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
TADF‐emitting dendrimers promise to enable scalable solution‐based fabrication of efficient electroluminescent devices by the virtue of an attractive set of properties. Here, we report on how light‐emitting electrochemical cells, comprising the TADF‐dendrimer tBuCz2m2pTRZ, can be fabricated by scalable bar‐coating under ambient air and deliver uniform ...

A Strategy for Predicting Transonic Compressor Performance at Low Reynolds Number

open access: yesAerospace
A low Reynolds number (Re) environment leads to severe deterioration in compressor performance, and it is necessary and challenging to accurately predict performance at a low Re during the design phase of a compressor.

TRANSONIC COMPRESSOR INLET FLOW FIELD ANALYSIS

open access: yes, 2021
Achieving low stall speeds is desired for military aircraft to allow for improved flight performance. The purpose of this study was to accurately characterize the inlet flow field of a transonic compressor’s inlet and observe if there were any flow field improvements due to rig modifications.

Hyperviscous Diabetic Bone Marrow Niche Impairs BMSCs Osteogenesis via TRPV2‐Mediated Cytoskeletal‐Nuclear Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diabetic bone marrow exhibits pathological ECM hyperviscosity that activates TRPV2‐mediated Ca2⁺ influx, leading to perinuclear F‐actin disassembly, nuclear deformation, and chromatin condensation. This cytoskeletal‐nuclear decoupling suppresses osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.

Turbomachinery [PDF]

open access: yes
The discipline research in turbomachinery, which is directed toward building the tools needed to understand such a complex flow phenomenon, is based on the fact that flow in turbomachinery is fundamentally unsteady or time dependent.

From Grave to Cradle: Kombucha Waste for Sustainable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a sustainable method to purify kombucha bacterial cellulose (KBC) with sodium bicarbonate and hydrogen peroxide, avoiding harsh chemicals. KBC films are patterned with gold and function as pressure sensors for flatfoot gait detection. At the end‐of‐life, the KBC‐based device biodegrades in soil, leaving environmentally benign gold

Mechanism of Stability Enhancement with Shallow ‎Reversed Slot-Type Casing Treatment in a Transonic ‎Compressor ‎

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2021
In this paper, the influence of a shallow reversed slot-type casing treatment on the performance of a tip-critical transonic compressor has been numerically investigated. Firstly, the complex flow fields in the rotor tip region are studied in details. It

Scalable, Microwave‐Enabled Synthesis of Ternary WxTi1‐xO2 and Heterostructured TiO2‐WO3‐x Colloidal Nanocrystals: Carrier Dynamics and Photocatalytic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two microwave‐assisted synthetic methods, specifically a one‐pot and a seeded‐growth approach, are developed within a hydroalcoholic solution for the growth of single‐phase ternary WxTi1‐xO2 and heterostructured TiO2‐WO3‐x colloidal nanocrystals. Both types of nanocrystals show significant photocatalytic activity for 4‐methoxybenzyl alcohol oxidation ...
