Flow in the working section of a transonic wind tunnel

Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 2011
The features of the gas flow in the working section of a transonic wind tunnel have been considered. On the basis of the method of joining asymptotic expansions and the theory of detached zones mathematical models of the flow are proposed. The flow over a perforation and transverse and longitudinal slots has been investigated.

Theory of wall interference in transonic wind-tunnels

1964
Planned as an introduction to some of the topics covered in this Symposium, this short review of the application of transonic-flow theory to problems of wind-tunnel interference is restricted to sonic and subsonic speeds. It must be stressed, however, that the interference at supersonic speeds poses problems which in practice might be more important ...

Wind-Tunnel Model Position for Transonic Testing

Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1954
Aasc = (0.25) ( 1 . 0 7 8 C L ) = 0.269 CL (3) A similar example using the unit vortex approach (page 22 of reference 4) yields a value of 0 . 2 5 4 C L . The difference of 0.015° (at CL — 1.0) is not surprising in view of the uncertainties of the extrapolation and the fact that reference 4 uses an average value rather than that at the centerline ...

A Shook Tube Driven Transonic Wind Tunnel

2013
A small transonic wind tunnel was designed, constructed and calibrated in order to provide a tool for the study and demonstration of transonic flow phenomena. The wind tunnel makes use of flow properties following the propagation of a shock wave along a tube in order to create the transonic flow. This is in contrast to conventional transonic facilities
