Transparency preference and economic behavior
Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, 1998It is shown that decision makers guided by Popperian epistemology will have a preference for transparency, even in situations where standard economic theory provides no rationale for such a preference. This provides a Popperian resolution of the Ellsberg paradox, and a rationale for suspicion in experiments as well as in economic life.

Separating transparent layers of repetitive dynamic behaviors
Tenth IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV'05) Volume 1, 2005In this paper, we present an approach for separating two transparent layers of complex nonrigid scene dynamics. The dynamics in one of the layers is assumed to be repetitive, while the other can have any arbitrary dynamics. Such repetitive dynamics includes, among other, human actions in video (e.g., a walking person), or a repetitive musical tune in ...

Rheological behavior of semi‐aromatic transparent polyamide
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2005AbstractThe rheological behaviors of semi‐aromatic transparent polyamide (SATPA) melt are investigated using a capillary rheometer. The effects of shear rate, shear stress, and temperature on the apparent viscosity ηa of SATPA are discussed. A correlation of non‐Newtonian index with temperature is obtained. The results show the shear thinning of SATPA;

Market Maker Quotation Behavior and Pretrade Transparency
The Journal of Finance, 2003AbstractWe examine the impact of differing levels of pretrade transparency on the quotation behavior of Nasdaq market makers. We find that market makers are more likely to quote on odd ticks, and to actively narrow the spread, when they can do so anonymously by posting limit orders on Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs).

Domain Behavior in Some Transparent Magnetic Oxides
Journal of Applied Physics, 1959Magnetic domains were observed by means of the Faraday effect, and by the Bitter technique in a number of compounds having the spinel, magnetoplumbite, and perovskite-like structures. The latter compounds are orthorhombic and have the general formula MFeO3 where M is Y, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, or Lu. Domain boundaries in these compounds
