Bio‐Macromolecular Surface Coatings for Autohesive, Transparent, Elastomeric Foils

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, 2023
Thin materials made from elastomeric polymers such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polyurethane (PU) can be both, compliant and resilient. Their mechanical robustness and flexibility will make them great candidates for applications in the human body ...

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

Glycosylation Gene Signatures as Prognostic Biomarkers in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 7, Page 1378-1394, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive brain tumor characterized by significant heterogeneity. This study investigates the role of glycosylation‐related genes in GBM subtyping, prognosis, and response to therapy. Methods We analyzed mRNA expression data and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression ...

Estimating a path through a map of decision making. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Studies of the evolution of collective behavior consider the payoffs of individual versus social learning. We have previously proposed that the relative magnitude of social versus individual learning could be compared against the transparency of payoff ...

Detour Behavior of Mice Trained with Transparent, Semitransparent and Opaque Barriers

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Detour tasks are commonly used to study problem solving skills and inhibitory control in canids and primates. However, there is no comparable detour test designed for rodents despite its significance for studying the development of executive skills. Furthermore, mice offer research opportunities that are not currently possible to achieve when primates ...
