Real‐World Cost‐Effectiveness of a Standardized Education and Exercise Therapy Program for Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Compared to Usual Care

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We estimated the real‐world cost‐effectiveness of a standardized education and exercise therapy program (GLA:D) compared to usual care (UC) for people managing hip and/or knee osteoarthritis (HKOA). Methods We used a prospective matched cohort design to recruit people (aged >45 years) diagnosed with HKOA who used GLA:D or UC (not on a ...

A model-based framework for learning transparent swarm behaviors

open access: yes, 2021
This paper proposes a model-based framework to automatically and efficiently design understandable and verifiable behaviors for swarms of robots. The framework is based on the automatic extraction of two distinct models: 1) a neural network model trained to estimate the relationship between the robots' sensor readings and the global performance of the ...

Lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain in Australian adults: A qualitative study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person‐centred care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards.

Detour Behavior of Mice Trained with Transparent, Semitransparent and Opaque Barriers

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Detour tasks are commonly used to study problem solving skills and inhibitory control in canids and primates. However, there is no comparable detour test designed for rodents despite its significance for studying the development of executive skills. Furthermore, mice offer research opportunities that are not currently possible to achieve when primates ...

High temperature oxidation behavior of disordered (Ti0.5Zr0.5)2AlC MAX phase via a Machine Learning-Augmented DFT approach

open access: yesMaterials Letters: X, 2021
The Zr-based MAX phases have attracted considerable attention for their outstanding irradiation behavior and high neutron transparency relevant to nuclear power generation technologies. In spite of increased understanding of physical behavior crystalline

Global and regional temporal changes in cross‐country inequalities of site‐specific osteoarthritis burden, 1990–2021

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study examined the global and regional temporal changes in cross‐country inequalities of site‐specific osteoarthritis (OA) burden from 1990 to 2021. Methods Age‐standardized years lived with disability rate for site‐specific OA across 204 countries/territories were obtained from the Global Burden of Diseases Study (GBD) 2021.

Mechanical Behavior of Transparent Spinel Fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesCeramics, 2023
In this work, a transparent nanostructured ceramic magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) was fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) from commercial spinel nano-powders at different temperatures (1300, 1350 and 1400 °C). The sintered samples were thoroughly examined to assess their microstructural, optical, and mechanical properties.

The Economic Burden of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries: Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The aim of this systematic review was to synthesise the economic impact of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on households, health systems, and society in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Methods Electronic databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and CINAHL were searched using keywords related to RA and cost of illness.

Estimating a path through a map of decision making. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Studies of the evolution of collective behavior consider the payoffs of individual versus social learning. We have previously proposed that the relative magnitude of social versus individual learning could be compared against the transparency of payoff ...

Hip morphology‐based osteoarthritis risk prediction models: development and external validation using individual participant data from the World COACH Consortium

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives This study aims to develop hip morphology‐based radiographic hip osteoarthritis (RHOA) risk prediction models and investigates the added predictive value of hip morphology measurements and the generalizability to different populations. Methods We combined data from nine prospective cohort studies participating in the World COACH consortium ...
