NONCOMPLIANCE IN ORGAN TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS

Transplantation, 1990
The frequency of noncompliance with postoperative medical therapy ranges from 2% to 43% in organ transplant recipients and causes more graft loss than uncontrolled rejection in compliant patients. Retrospective and prospective studies undertaken at our center showed no difference in the rate of noncompliance between males and females or between ...

Hypertension in the Kidney Transplant Recipient

Transplantation Reviews, 2010
Elevated arterial blood pressure is common after kidney transplantation and contributes to shortened patient and allograft survivals and increased fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events. Unfortunately, current evidence indicates that arterial blood pressure remains poorly controlled in kidney transplant recipients. One concern is how best to evaluate

INFECTIONS IN LUNG TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS

Clinics in Chest Medicine, 1997

Our aim was to describe the gestations of our transplanted patients, analyzing outcomes and complications as well as long-term evolution of renal function. From 1976 to 2004, 43 gestations occurred in 35 renal transplanted women: their mean age was 31.7 +/- 4.06 years ...

HYPOGAMMAGLOBULINEMIA IN LUNG TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS

Transplantation, 2001
Infectious complications continue to represent a significant source of morbidity and mortality in lung transplant recipients. Identifying specific, remediable immune defects is of potential value. After one lung transplant patient with recurrent infections was noted to be severely hypogammaglobulinemic, a screening program for humoral immune defects ...

Hyperthyroidism in a Renal Transplant Recipient

American Journal of Nephrology, 1998
We report a case of toxic multinodular goiter with severe symptomatic hyperthyroidism in a female diagnosed 5 months after successful renal transplantation. To our knowledge, this is the first well-documented case of hyperthyroidism in a renal transplant recipient that responded well to methimazole.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common opportunistic infection following solid-organ transplant and remains a cause of life-threatening disease and allograft rejection in liver transplant recipients. The purpose of this review is to highlight the current strategies in diagnosis and management of this disease in this vulnerable population ...
