Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

New Zealand transport domain plan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Transport Domain Plan (the Domain Plan) ensures that the transport sector has the right data and information. It aims to help the transport sector to better coordinate how agencies collect and manage data and knowledge, and ensure that existing ...

Ripples and undulations in the perceived supply–demand mismatch surfaces of London’s job market

open access: yesRegional Studies, Regional Science, 2018
In all cities there is a potential for a mismatch to occur between the demand for and supply of jobs. This mismatch is reflective of the balance struck between jobs and housing. This mismatch is non-uniformly perceived by different occupations.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Combining discharge and thermal transport methods on metal surfaces as an entry point for the development of contemporary metal ornaments

open access: yesMaǧallaẗ Al-Turāṯ wa Al-Taṣmīm
The artistic methods of decoration and color processing on metal surfaces are one of the methods inherited in the field of metal works from the age to the present, which is witnessing many technological developments.

THE MORE FAVORABLE CONTRAVENTION LAW IN THE CONTEXT OF RO-E-TRANSPORT: CHALLENGES AND CRITICAL CONSIDERATIONS [PDF]

open access: yesChallenges of the Knowledge Society
The year 2024 was an extremely dynamic one regarding the changes made to the GEO no. 41/2022, which establishes the national system for monitoring road freight transport, RO-e-transport, particularly concerning the sanctioning regime.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
