The transport fo self-propelled particles confined in 2D smooth corrugated channel [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Directed transport of self-propelled ellipsoidal particles confined in a smooth corrugated channel with asymmetric potential and Gaussian colored noise is investigated. Effects of the channel, potential and colored noise on the system are discussed. Large x axis noise intensity inhibits the transport.

Effectiveness of Key Biodiversity Areas in representing global avian diversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are the largest and most complete network of significant sites for the global persistence of biodiversity. Although important sites for birds worldwide have been relatively well assessed, a key question is how effectively the global KBA network represents avian diversity.

Modeling nature‐based restoration potential across aquatic–terrestrial boundaries

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Today, few watersheds remain untouched by global change processes arising from climate warming, impoundments, channelization, water extraction, pollution, and urbanization. The need for restoration has resulted in a myriad of interventions, generally performed at small scales, which have limited measurable impact in restoring biodiversity and

Exploring gaps, biases, and research priorities in the evidence for reptile conservation actions

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract With over 21% of reptile species threatened with extinction, there is an urgent need to ensure conservation actions to protect and restore populations are informed by relevant, reliable evidence. We examined the geographic and taxonomic distribution of 707 studies that tested the effects of actions to conserve reptiles synthesized in ...

Population genetics and the role of dispersal barriers in the Antarctic springtail Kaylathalia klovstadi (Collembola, Isotomidae)

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
Our study investigates the role of Tucker and Whitehall Glaciers as barriers to the dispersal of the springtail Kaylathalia klovstadi and examines its genetic population structure using mitochondrial DNA markers. Genetic analyses of 62 individuals from six populations reveal new insights into the species’ diversity and distribution, challenging ...

Rational Formulation of Alternative Fuels using QSPR Methods: Application to Jet Fuels Développement d’un outil d’aide à la formulation des carburants alternatifs utilisant des méthodes QSPR (Quantitative Structure Property Relationship): application aux carburéacteurs

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2013
Alternative fuels are a promising solution for road transport but also for aircraft. In the aviation field, a huge amount of work has been done in the past years with the approval to use up to 50 % by volume of SPK (Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene) in ...

Prayer, Participation, and Perfection in Dante's Commedia

open access: yesModern Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article stands at the intersection of two theological moments: one recognizing the theological authority of Dante Alighieri, especially in his Commedia, the other examining the relation of the doctrine of prayer to the doctrine of God. It argues that Dante can inform modern theological reflection on this relation in a profound way.

High soil moisture triggers negative plant–soil feedbacks in a tropical forest

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 1469-1482, June 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant‐microbial interactions help stabilize coexistence and shape ecological communities. These interactions are sensitive to abiotic conditions, but how they may be affected by environmental change is unknown.
