Equatorial transport as diagnosed from nitrous oxide variability [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2009
The mechanisms of transport on annual, semi-annual and quasi-biennial time scales in the equatorial (10° S–10° N) stratosphere are investigated using the nitrous oxide (N2O) measurements of the space-borne ODIN Sub ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Bering Strait Ocean Heat Transport Drives Decadal Arctic Variability in a High‐Resolution Climate Model

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
We investigate the role of ocean heat transport (OHT) in driving the decadal variability of the Arctic climate by analyzing the pre‐industrial control simulation of a high‐resolution climate model.

Control objects with variable transport delay

open access: yesIzvestiya vysshikh uchebnykh zavedenii. Gornyi zhurnal, 2021
Research aim is to analyze a class of automatic control systems at mining and concentrating facilities, where controlling action is the consumption of fuel or substance by a transporting body in order to develop recommendations on stability and control quality improvement. Research methodology consists in working out a model of automatic control system

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Determining North Atlantic meridional transport variability from pressure on the western boundary: a model investigation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we investigate the possibility of determining North Atlantic meridional transport variability using pressure on the western boundary, focusing on the 42degN latitude of the Halifax WAVE array.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dune Volume Changes at Decadal Timescales and Its Relation with Potential Aeolian Transport

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Long-term changes in dune volume at the Belgian coast are analyzed based on measured data by airborne surveys available from 1979. For most of the 65 km long coastal stretch, dune volume increases linearly in time at a constant rate.

Electron-Hole Asymmetry in GdBaCo_{2}O_{5+x}: Evidence for Spin Blockade of Electron Transport in a Correlated Electron System

open access: yes, 2005
In RBaCo_{2}O_{5+x} compounds (R is rare earth) variability of the oxygen content allows precise doping of CoO_2 planes with both types of charge carriers.
