A Calculus for Transportation Systems
2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops, 2014This paper presents a new formal method, called Calculus of Real-Time Distribution, Mobility, and Interaction (CaRDMI), to specify and verify spatial and temporal behaviors of transportation systems. For specification, CaRDMI defines a map, consisting of nodes and edges with spatial and temporal constraints.

Resilience in systems of systems: electrified transport systems
2021 16th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE), 2021The transport system is a large system of systems which currently faces challenges because of the climate-change-induced need to decrease the use of fossil fuels. The aim of mitigating climate change is realized in many parts of the transport system, concurrently and at high pace, which brings with it many challenges for the resilience of the system ...

Upgrades to Transportation Systems Worldwide [Transportation Systems]
IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, 2014On 23 April 2014, Cubic Transportation Systems, an integrator of information technology and payment systems and services for public transportation, received a US$7.5 million add-on contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to expand the Clipper card fare-payment system to more than a dozen suburban transit agencies in the San ...

AbstractThe identification of the genes responsible for various genetic liver disorders lead to a better understanding of basic physiology of hepatic transport systems. In this review we focus on transport systems involved in the generation of bile and in the maintenance of copper homeostasis. Abnormal function of these transporters results in diseases

IEEE Communications Magazine, 1992
The evolution of T1-based private networks is reviewed. It is shown that as a result of bursty data, voice/data segregation, and processor advances, data networks are becoming packet-based. The need for efficient transport of data, and possibly voice, point to a frame-based system with the possibility of eventually moving to a cell-based system.

A System for Adaptive Transportation
Journal of Burn Care & Rehabilitation, 1990In our society, we take for granted the ability to travel with few restrictions. For most travelers, the major factor that limits travel is cost. However, for a significant number of Americans, the phrase "freedom to travel" is meaningless. These are the physically handicapped, a group with special needs that has long been denied what every American ...

What Next in Transportation? [Transportation Systems]
IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine, 2014On 21 October 2013, the South Australian government announced an integrated transport and land use plan for the Adelaide region that includes a major expansion of its existing tram service. The expansion would be accomplished by including the existing tram line between downtown Adelaide and Glenelg (see ?Figure 1) in a new AdeLINK tram network that ...
