A study of characteristics of intercity transportation systems. Phase 1: Definition of transportation comparison methodology [PDF]
Decision making in early transportation planning must be responsive to complex value systems representing various policies and objectives. The assessment of alternative transportation concepts during the early initial phases of the system life cycle ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Recent synthetic transport systems
This critical review covers progress with synthetic transport systems, particularly ion channels and pores, between January 2006 and December 2009 in a comprehensive manner. This is the third part of a series launched in the year 2000, covering a rich collection of structural and functional motifs that should appeal to a broad audience of non ...

Route Planning in Transportation Networks [PDF]
We survey recent advances in algorithms for route planning in transportation networks. For road networks, we show that one can compute driving directions in milliseconds or less even at continental scale.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Rationalization of the passenger transport system as an important transport system
Abstract Extending individual car transport brings lots of positive effects such as comfort and speed of travel, but also a number of negative aspects such as congested urban agglomerations, a significant increase in air pollutants, higher noise and so on.
