Cosmo‐political landscapes of Torres Strait adhi and misœri stones: Closing the gap between Islander and non‐indigenous perspectives

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, Volume 58, Issue 1, Page 56-73, April 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Torres Strait (TS), on Australia's north‐east border, has a long history of research on pœrapœral kulal: powerful stones. Pœrapœral kulal contain vital power from site‐of‐origin and therefore their movement across the Coral‐Arafura Sea corridor provides important information about past and present human relationships (Elu 2004).

Wildlife roadkill patterns in a fragmented landscape of the Western Amazon

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 10, Issue 13, Page 6623-6635, July 2020., 2020
In this study of roadkill in the Amazon region of Ecuador, we found strikingly high numbers of roadkill in a relatively short period, on a short stretch of road. We found multiple distinct spatial clusters or hotspots, where roadkill was particularly frequent. These hotspots were partially explained by land cover variables and road characteristics. Our

Evidence for seasonal cycles in deep‐sea fish abundances: A great migration in the deep SE Atlantic?

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 89, Issue 7, Page 1593-1603, July 2020., 2020
The authors demonstrate a significant correlation between epipelagic primary production and deep‐sea fish abundances at 1,500 m from 2010 to 2016 on the Angola margin. These findings highlight the importance of upper‐ocean processes to deep‐sea ecosystem functioning, and their potential vulnerability to future change.
