Efficient Low‐Voltage Phase Shifter with Inkjet‐Printed Liquid Crystal on a Silicon on Insulator Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Demonstration of an electro‐optic phase shifter fabricated by inkjet printing liquid crystal on an integrated silicon photonics chip surface. On a completed silicon photonics wafer (including modulators, detectors, and metallization), the back‐end‐of‐line stack is opened up to inkjet‐print liquid crystal. A phase shift of 6 for 2.7 V is obtained within

Edge-transitivity of Cayley graphs generated by transpositions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Let $S$ be a set of transpositions generating the symmetric group $S_n$. The transposition graph of $S$ is defined to be the graph with vertex set $\{1,\ldots,n\}$, and with vertices $i$ and $j$ being adjacent in $T(S)$ whenever $(i,j) \in S$.

Wave Propagation Approaches for Design Optimization of Asymmetric Double‐Layer Gold Gratings: Logic‐ and Learning‐Based Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
This study presents a wave propagation‐based optimization strategy for asymmetric double‐layer Au gratings to improve infrared polarization selectivity. A logic‐based method efficiently determines single‐wavelength structures through analytical modeling, while a learning‐based approach utilizing an explainable neural network enables broadband ...

Transposition of variables is hard to describe [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The function $p_{xy}$ that interchanges two logical variables $x,y$ in formulas is hard to describe in the following sense. Let $F$ denote the Lindenbaum-Tarski formula-algebra of a finite-variable first order logic, endowed with $p_{xy}$ as a unary function. Each equational axiom system for the equational theory of $F$ has to contain, for each finite $

Stereotyped Subclones Revealed by High‐Density Single‐Cell Lineage Tracing Support Robust Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on a well‐established in vitro directed differentiation model and an integrated analysis of high‐density cell lineage trees (CLTs) and single‐cell transcriptomes, it is demonstrated that many subclones are formed by sub‐CLTs resembling each other in terms of both cell type compositions and topological structures.

Shuffling via Transpositions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We consider a family of card shuffles of $n$ cards, where the allowed moves involve transpositions corresponding to the Jucys--Murphy elements of $\{S_m\}_{m \leq n}$. We diagonalize the transition matrix of these shuffles. As a special case, we consider the $k$-star transpositions shuffle, a natural interpolation between random transpositions and star

Reconstruction of permutations distorted by single transposition errors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The reconstruction problem for permutations on $n$ elements from their erroneous patterns which are distorted by transpositions is presented in this paper. It is shown that for any $n \geq 3$ an unknown permutation is uniquely reconstructible from 4 distinct permutations at transposition distance at most one from the unknown permutation.
