Transvaginal ultrasound was used preoperatively to evaluate the endometrium in 96 patients referred for dilatation and curettage. The sonographic display was correlated to the histopathologic diagnosis. In 45 patients with postmenopausal bleeding, 4 patients had adenocarcinoma of the endometrium.
