Transversals and Multitransversals

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 1979
Let \(I\) be a set (of indices). Then, by definition, the disjoint subset relation \((a_i:i\in I)\to(b_i:i\in I)_{ds}\) means that the \(a_i\), \(b_i\) are cardinals with the property that whenever \(A_i\) is a set of cardinality \(a_i\) there exist pairwise disjoint sets \(X_i\in[A_i]^{b_i}\) \((i\in I)\).

Transverse Lie

American Journal of Perinatology, 1990
To assess the impact of transverse lie on fetal and neonatal outcome, 14 mother and infant pairs with transverse lie were matched to 28 pairs with a vertex and 28 with a breech presentation. The control groups were matched for gestational age, route of delivery, type of anesthesia, and presence of labor.

Transverse myelitis

Autoimmunity Reviews, 2012
Acute transverse myelitis (ATM) is an etiologically heterogeneous syndrome with acute or subacute onset, in which inflammation of the spinal cord results in neurologic deficits, manifesting as weakness, sensory loss and autonomic dysfunction. It is frequently associated with infectious or systemic autoimmune diseases, but its etiology remains unknown ...

Gravitational Transverse-Transverse Waves

Physical Review, 1951
It has been stated in earlier papers that no system of masses subject to their gravitational field alone can radiate gravitational waves, if the approximation procedure of Einstein, Infeld, and Hoffman is adopted. However, this result was proved explicitly only for radiation of purely longitudinal and transverse-longitudinal waves. In this paper a new ...

Transversal coalitions in hypergraphs

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics
A transversal in a hypergraph H is set of vertices that intersect every edge of H. A transversal coalition in H consists of two disjoint sets of vertices X and Y of H, neither of which is a transversal but whose union X∪Y is a transversal in H. Such sets

Transverse Momentum and Transverse Spin

Probing Nucleons and Nuclei in High Energy Collisions, 2020
The study of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) features prominently among the goals of the EIC program. During Week 2, several topics related to TMDs have been discussed, offering complementary information with respect to the original EIC white paper.

TRANSVERSE STERNOTHORACOTOMY

Chest Surgery Clinics of North America, 1996
Transverse sternothoracotomy (the clamshell incision) has been resurrected from the early days of cardiac surgery and is now used for double lung transplantation, bilateral pulmonary tumors, and selected mediastinal tumors. Bulky mediastinal tumors that project into the pleural space are exposed well with this incision.

Transverse myelitis

The Laryngoscope, 1980
AbstractTransverse myelitis is a known complication of radiation treatment for carcinoma of the head and neck. Otolaryngologists treat patients who receive radiotherapy and should be familiar with this complication.During the past ten years there has been little or no mention made of this problem in the ENT literature.

On modp transversals

Combinatorica, 1991
A mod-\(p\) transversal in a affine space over the field \(Z/2Z\) is a set whose intersection with any hyperplane which does not contain the origin contains a number of points not divisible by \(p\). The author provides an estimate on the minimal size \(f(p,n)\) of such a transversal in terms of the prime \(p\) and the dimension \(n\) of the affine ...

On the transversals of a ceer

Computability
We study immunity properties of the transversals of computably enumerable equivalence relations (or, briefly, ceers ), where a transversal is a set which picks at most one element from every equivalence class of the given equivalence relation.
