Finite bending of hyperelastic beams with transverse isotropy generated by longitudinal porosity
, 2021The paper deals with the finite bending analysis of transversely isotropic hyperelastic slender beams made of a neo-Hookean material with longitudinal voids.

Ice bending is a major failure mechanism of level ice when ships and marine structures interact with level ice. This paper aims to investigate the ice bending and ice load when level ice collides on ships and marine structures using numerical simulation ...

Seismic traveltime inversion for transverse isotropy
GEOPHYSICS, 1990Quantitative measurements of seismic anisotropy can provide a valuable clue to the lithology and degree of stratification in sedimentary rocks with hydrocarbon potential. We present a practical technique for obtaining anisotropy parameters (i.e., five stiffness coefficients A, C, F, L, and M) from seismic traveltime measurements for horizontally ...

Inversion of reflection traveltimes for transverse isotropy
GEOPHYSICS, 1995In anisotropic media, the short‐spread stacking velocity is generally different from the root‐mean‐square vertical velocity. The influence of anisotropy makes it impossible to recover the vertical velocity (or the reflector depth) using hyperbolic moveout analysis on short‐spread, common‐midpoint (CMP) gathers, even if both P‐ and S‐waves are recorded.

Fluids with Transverse Isotropy as Models for Electrorheological Fluids
ZAMM, 1998Summary: In electrorheological fluids (ER-fluids) fibers are formed upon application of an electric field. This renders the fluid transversely isotropic. Studying transverse isotropy from a purely phenomenological point of view in its simplest form reveals that yield stresses have to be reckoned with, be they shear stresses or normal stresses.

An extended exponentiated Hencky energy for transverse isotropy
PAMM, 2018AbstractIn this contribution we aim to formally extend the promising exponentiated Hencky strain‐energy to transversely isotropic problems. This is facilitated by using additional anisotropic logarithmic strain invariants. The potential of the logarithmic‐strain driven material response is studied for a numerical example associated to arterial wall ...

Nonhyperbolic reflection moveout for horizontal transverse isotropy
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1996, 1996The transversely isotropic model with a horizontal axis of symmetry (HTI) has been used extensively in studies of shear‐wave splitting to describe fractured formations with a single system of parallel vertical penny‐shaped cracks. Here, we present an analytic description of longspread reflection moveout in horizontally layered HTI media with arbitrary ...

Target-oriented reverse time migration in transverse isotropy media
Acta Geophysica, 2021Reverse time migration (RTM) is a high-precision imaging method for complex structures. However, without considering seismic anisotropy of the subsurface, RTM utilizing the anisotropic seismic data may produce blurred structure images with incorrect positions.

Torsional Stress Interference in Transverse Isotropy
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1991An unbounded homogeneous transversely isotropic body of revolution containing two twin spheroidal cavities is subjected to a torsional loading at infinity. The axis of twist coincides with the axis of elastic symmetry of the material and the axis of revolution of the body.

Effect of transverse isotropy on dip‐moveout processing
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1994, 1994The usual dip moveout (DMO) algorithms are based on the assumption of an isotropic medium. However, the earth’s sedimentary basins are often described as transversely isotropic. We investigated the effect of transverse isotropy on a data processing sequence that includes isotropic DMO. Two geometrically similar physical models were constructed. One was
