A higher order triangular plate finite element using Airy functions
The present paper describes the formulation of a new moderately thick plate bending triangular finite element based on Mindlin–Reissner plate theory. It is called a Great Triangular Moderately Thick Plate Finite Element, or GTMTPFE.

The ocean waves exhibit obvious non-linearity with asymmetric distribution of wave crests and troughs, which could induce significantly different effect on the seabed compared to the commonly used linear wave theory.

Modelling Elastic Behaviour of Soft Tissues. Part II. Transverse Isotropy
New constitutive relationships for hyperelastic transversely isotropic materials have been proposed. The well-known isotropic hyperelastic model due to OGDEN 11.581 has been extended to transverse isotropy.

Loess landslides induced by rainfall and traffic load are significant hazards during the construction and operation of highways in many loess-covered areas. Studies of the deformation and stability of loess slopes with seepage fissures are limited.

Effect of Soil Anisotropy on Ground Motion Characteristics
Soil transverse isotropy results in different stiffness characteristics in horizontal and vertical directions. However, the effect is usually neglected in seismic motion analysis. In this study, an equivalent linear anisotropic soil model was established

Isotropy or weak vertical transverse isotropy in D″ beneath the Atlantic Ocean [PDF]
Shear velocity properties of D″ beneath the central Atlantic Ocean are explored using predominantly European seismic recordings of intermediate and deep focus (>100 km) South American earthquakes. Broadband data are analyzed and, when possible, corrected for upper mantle models of receiver‐side anisotropic structure.

Spin Diffusion in Trapped Gases: Anisotropy in Dipole and Quadrupole Modes [PDF]
Recent experiments in a mixture of two hyperfine states of trapped Bose gases show behavior analogous to a spin-1/2 system, including transverse spin waves and other familiar Leggett-Rice-type effects.

Assessing the Permeability in Anisotropic and Weakly Permeable Porous Rocks Using Radial Pulse Tests
The pulse test is usually considered to be an efficient method for measuring the permeability of weakly permeable porous rocks. Classically, the test consists of imposing a pressure drop on the base of a cylindrical sample and measuring the pressure ...

Bedding plane-embedded augmented virtual internal bonds for fracture propagation simulation in shale
To effectively simulate the fracture propagation in shale, the bedding plane (BP) effect is incorporated into the augmented virtual internal bond (AVIB) constitutive relation through BP tensor. Comparing the BP-embedded AVIB with the theory of transverse
