The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1984The acoustoelastic response of a transversely isotropic body loaded in plane stress is computed for arbitrarily severe anisotropy. Relations for the propagation speeds of longitudinal and shear waves propagating normal to the plane of stress are given as functions of the stress.

A theory of transversely isotropic fluids

A note on transversely-isotropic invariants
ZAMM, 2006The problem of a functional basis for a system of vectors and second rank tensors with respect to the symmetry transformation Q (φ m) is discussed. The invariants are found as integrals of a generic partial differential equation. This approach is illustrated for the case of a single symmetric tensor.
