Bounds on Absolute Gypsy Moth (Lymantria dispar dispar) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) Population Density as Derived from Counts in Single Milk Carton Traps

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Estimates of absolute pest population density are critical to pest management programs but have been difficult to obtain from capture numbers in pheromone-baited monitoring traps.

Investigation of Sodium Mist Trapping Efficiency in Mesh-Packed Trap [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1981
An analysis is made on the trapping efficiency of a sodium mist trap brought by change in the mist particle size distribution. The trapping efficiency is represented in terms of the rate of mist adhesion onto the mesh wires. A log-normal distribution function is assumed for the particle size distribution in the mist at trap inlet.

Efficiency assessment of the gene trap approach [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, 1998
The trapping of genes in murine embryonic stem (ES) cells offers three features in one experimental approach: 1) analysis of the expression patterns of unknown genes by using a simple staining method, 2) rapid cloning of unknown genes, and 3) generation of mutant mouse lines.

Changes in Shape, Texture and Airflow Improve Efficiency of Monitoring Traps for Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

open access: yesInsects, 2020
The red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum, is an important pest of stored products. We compared an existing standard commercial trap with five experimental trap designs differing from the status quo in shape, surface texture, and in forced air capability

To Catch a Fly: Landing and Capture of Ceratitis capitata in a Jackson Trap with and without an Insecticide. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Attractant-based traps are a cornerstone of detection, delimitation and eradication programs for pests such as tephritid fruit flies. The ideal trap and lure combination has high attraction (it brings insects to the trap from a distance) and high capture

Controlling the efficiency of trapping in treelike fractals [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
Efficiently controlling the trapping process, especially the trapping efficiency, is central in the study of trap problem in complex systems, since it is a fundamental mechanism for diverse other dynamic processes. Thus, it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the control technique for trapping problem.

A study on Isatis suspension trap efficiency; Advantages and disadvantages [PDF]

open access: yesDesert, 2011
Different types of sediment trap have been introduced so far to be used in erosion measuring stations, each with its own advantages and disadvantages in trapping aeolian particles.

Investigations of Rake and Rib Structures in Sand Traps to Prevent Sediment Transport in Hydropower Plants

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
In order to increase the lifespan of hydraulic turbines in hydropower plants, it is necessary to minimize damages caused by sediment erosion. One solution is to reduce the amount of sediments by improving the design of sand trap. In the present work, the
