ABSTRACT Tubular and curviplanar structures, outlined by the occurrence of haematite/goethite, chlorite, quartz and albite, are developed in the Middle Permian Broughton Formation in the southern Sydney Basin, New South Wales, Australia. These structures are interpreted as fluid‐flow pathways resulting from the ejection of heated pore fluids as a thick

ABSTRACT Rationale As contamination of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the environment becomes better understood, it is increasingly important to develop forensic tools capable of tracing contamination to emission sources. Isotopic methods have been previously inaccessible for PFAS due to limitations of the instrumentation, but ...

The Effect of Barotropic Instability on Mixed Rossby‐Gravity Wave Variability During the QBO Phases
Abstract The traditional view posits that vertically propagating mixed Rossby‐gravity (MRG) waves generated in the troposphere partly contribute to driving the Quasi‐Biennial Oscillation (QBO) in the tropical lower stratosphere. However, recent studies suggest that MRG waves may be generated locally within the QBO region, potentially via barotropic ...

Abstract The lek hotspot hypothesis predicts that leks will form in areas where males are more likely to encounter females, providing wildlife managers with a framework supporting the use of leks as the focus for prairie and shrubland grouse conservation and monitoring.

ABSTRACT Introduction Terpenes, which are found in high concentrations in the essential oil fraction of the Cannabis sativa flower, have demonstrated potential in many therapeutic and industrial applications. Objectives This work reports on a method developed for quantifying 18 terpenes in C. sativa essential oil obtained through hydrodistillation. The

Palagonitization of Volcanic Rocks in Polar Climates: The Case of Deception Island (Antarctica)
Abstract A detailed study of palagonitization in rocks from Deception Island—one of Antarctica's most active volcanoes—has been performed to advance our understanding of this alteration process. A detailed petrographic (optical and SEM), mineralogical (XRD), and mineral and glass spot geochemistry (EDS and EMP) characterization has been conducted on ...

Abstract Due to the properties of sound propagation underwater, including the existence of the SOFAR channel, sounds in the ocean can propagate over large distances with little attenuation. This makes passive acoustics a relevant method for monitoring natural events such as ice calving, earthquakes, and underwater volcanic eruptions.
