The Effects of Active Trigger Point of Upper Trapezius Muscle on Its Electromyography Activity and Maximal Isometric Contraction Force during Scapular Plane Elevation (Scaption)

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation, 2014
Objective: Trigger points may result in referral pain of their close areas. Recent evidence suggests that latent trigger points although they are not sensitive enough to cause pain, can interfere with the normal muscle function.

The Ergonomic Comparison of Endoscopist's Hand/Arm Movement and Relevant Muscle Load Between the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, Volume 38, Issue 1, January 2026.
Ergonomic comparison of hand/arm movements and muscle load in diagnostic vs. therapeutic upper GI endoscopy. ABSTRACT Objectives There have been little quantitative studies of ergonomics in the upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. We aimed to identify the ergonomic characteristics of both diagnostic (esophagogastroduodenoscopy; EGD) and therapeutic ...

Morphological differences in myofibre size and shape: A comparative study of the soleus, gastrocnemius, triceps brachii and vastus lateralis in humans and mice

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 248, Issue 1, Page 126-139, January 2026.
Myofibre size and shape were investigated in functionally distinct muscles of humans and mice using ATPase histochemistry and immunofluorescence. In both species, soleus myofibres were found to be larger, more irregularly shaped, and more heterogeneous compared to other muscles. These findings may have implications for biomedical research and potential

The Painful Long Head of the Biceps Brachii: Nonoperative Treatment Approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Pain associated with the long head of the biceps (LHB) brachii seems to be increasingly recognized in the past 4 to 5 years. The LHB has long been considered a troublesome pain generator in the shoulder.

Comparison of Two Posterior Minimally Invasive Approaches for Odontoid Fractures: Midline Nuchal Ligament Approach vs. Paramedian Muscle‐Splitting Approach

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 1, Page 74-83, January 2026.
The midline nuchal ligament approach yields clinical outcomes similar to those of the paramedian muscle‐splitting technique for odontoid fractures, while offering a more stable surgical procedure and reducing iatrogenic injury to the cervical posterior muscles and the greater occipital nerve.

Photobiomodulation associated with physical exercise in shoulder impingement syndrome. Systematic review with meta‐analysis

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 102, Issue 1, Page 220-236, January/February 2026.
The combination of physical exercise and PBM therapy has been demonstrated to be an effective approach in reducing pain and enhancing range of motion and functionality. Abstract To present the use of PBM associated with physical exercise in the treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome, with its different parameters. The following databases were used:

The Immediate Effects of Cervicothoracic Manipulation versus Stretching on Upper Trapezius Pressure Pain Thresholds and Range of Motion in Individuals without Neck Pain

open access: yes, 2015
Background and Purpose: Myofascial pain may be considered one of the most common clinical findings in patients with neck pain (NP). Motor aspects of myofascial pain include disturbed motor function and muscle weakness secondary to motor inhibition ...

Anatomical Investigation of the Gluteus Medius Muscle Innervation and Its Topographical Correspondence With Myofascial Trigger Points

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background and Purpose Hip pain, a common complaint among adults that often causes functional disability, can be caused by femoroacetabular impingement, labral injuries, stress fractures of the femoral neck, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, osteoarthritis of the femoroacetabular joint, hip fractures, greater trochanteric pain syndrome, pathology
