A comparison of numerical integrating algorithms by trapezoidal, Lagrange, and spline approximation

Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics, 1978
In the trapezoidal method, linear interpolation between data points tends to overestimate or underestimate the area, depending on the concavity of the curve. In some instances, area estimates can be obtained by linear interpolation of logarithmically transformed data.

Approximations of Fuzzy Numbers by General Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers

2013
Recently, many scholars investigated interval, triangular, trapezoidal, and semi-trapezoidal approximations of fuzzy numbers. These researches can be grouped into two classes: one is to study approximations of fuzzy numbers without any constraint; the other one is to study approximations preserving some attributes. In this paper, we propose two general

Trapezoidal Intuitionistic Approximations of Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers Preserving the Width

2019
The problem is discussed about approximating a sequence of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers or aggregating the sequence of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and then approximating the output of aggregation with condition of preserving the width. An interesting conclusion is obtained.

Weighted Semi-trapezoidal Approximation of a Fuzzy Number Preserving the Weighted Ambiguity

2012
We use the metric properties of the nearest extended weighted semi-trapezoidal fuzzy number and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker theorem to compute the weighted semi-trapezoidal approximation of a fuzzy number preserving the weighted ambiguity. The proposed approach is more general than existing methods and it can be applied to other approximations of fuzzy ...

Trapezoidal Approximation of a Complex Wing Planform for Wall Interference Calculations

24th AIAA Aerodynamic Measurement Technology and Ground Testing Conference, 2004
A method is presented that determines a trapezoidal approximation of a complex wing planform for estimating wall interference corrections. The trapezoidal approximation matches the reference area, span, and mean aerodynamic chord of the original wing if the ratio between the mean aerodynamic chord and the mean geometric chord is less or equal 4/3.

Algorithms for Trapezoidal Approximations of Fuzzy Numbers Preserving the Expected Interval

2010
Fuzzy number approximation by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers which preserves the expected interval is discussed. New algorithms for calculating the proper approximations are proposed. It is shown that the adequate approximation operator is chosen with respect both to the global spread of a fuzzy number and the size of possible asymmetry between the spread ...
