The shortcoming of an existing method for comparing the proposed new method for generalized triangular-trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (TTFN) are pointed out in this paper. Here the proposed ranking method is used for solving unbalanced fuzzy transportation problem (UFTP).

The Symmetric Trapezoidal Approximations of Fuzzy Numbers

The nearest symmetric trapezoidal approximation is presented for simplifying calculations of fuzzy numbers, which possesses the following properties: the centroid point invariance, ambuguity invariance, width invariance, translation invariance, sc-ale invariance. Numerical results also show that the presented method is valid.
