Tuning of Structural and Morphological Characteristics of V2O5 Thin Films Using Low Energy 16 keV N + for Optical and Wetting Applications

open access: yesECS Advances, 2023
Effect of nitrogen (N ^+ ) ion implantation on the morphological, structural, optical, and compositional properties of vanadium pentoxide (V _2 O _5 ) thin films grown on glass substrates is studied.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Check-hybrid GLDPC Codes: Systematic Elimination of Trapping Sets and Guaranteed Error Correction Capability

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we propose a new approach to construct a class of check-hybrid generalized low-density parity-check (CH-GLDPC) codes which are free of small trapping sets.

Trapping and cooling single atoms with far-off resonance intracavity doughnut modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We investigate cooling and trapping of single atoms inside an optical cavity using a quasi-resonant field and a far-off resonant mode of the Laguerre-Gauss type. The far-off resonant doughnut mode provides an efficient trapping in the case when it shifts

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

High resolution threshold photoelectron spectroscopy by electron attachment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A system is provided for determining the stable energy levels of a species ion, of an atomic, molecular, or radical type, by application of ionizing energy of a predetermined level, such as through photoionization.

Trapping Horizons in the Sultana-Dyer Space-Time

open access: yes, 2010
The Sultana-Dyer space-time is suggested as a model describing a black hole embedded in an expanding universe. Recently, in \cite{0705.4012}, its global structure is analyzed and the trapping horizons are shown.

The lifetime of electrons, holes and excitons before self-trapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper we discuss the self-trapping of a carrier or exciton in an insulator. The qualitative differences between small self-trapped molecular polarons and dielectric polarons are stressed.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Factors Influencing Trapping Success of Northern Bobwhites

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2020
Capturing animals is a critical component of many ecological research projects. Factors that increase capture success can save time, money, and improve inference.
