Ki67 expression at Kasai portoenterostomy as a prognostic factor in patients with biliary atresia
No consensus exists for predicting outcomes after Kasai portoenterostomy (KP) using liver histological findings. Ki67 (clone, MIB‐1) expression in liver parenchyma was measured by means of immunohistochemical staining of samples from five living donors and 35 patients with biliary atresia to assess its value in predicting KP outcomes.

Simulated model of RAPID concept: highlighting innate inflammation and liver regeneration
The mechanism of RAPID‐associated liver regeneration and its regulation remains unclear. A RAPID model in rats was developed involving cold ischaemia and reperfusion of the selected future liver remnant, portal vein ligation of the remaining segments during step I, and resection of the deportalized lobes during step II.

Outcomes for high‐risk hepatoblastoma in a resource‐challenged setting
The outcomes of children with high‐risk hepatoblastoma were assessed in the setting of a resource‐challenged nation, where access to organized chemotherapy and liver transplantation remains limited for the underprivileged. Excellent results were demonstrated.

Patients with extensive liver tumour load and a mainly poorly differentiated N2 primary tumour have short overall survival from the time of liver transplantation. Relapses were mostly unresectable and the patients had short survival from the time of relapse. These patients should not be offered liver transplantation.

Expression of LAIR‐1 (CD305) on Human Blood Monocytes as a Marker of Hepatic Cirrhosis Progression
Background and Aim. The presumed role of the inhibitory receptor LAIR‐1 (CD305) in the inflammatory response suggests that it might contribute to the pathophysiology of chronic inflammatory diseases such as liver cirrhosis. We studied the LAIR‐1 expression on liver macrophages and blood monocytes related to the progression of liver cirrhosis.

In this paper, a method to in vivo estimate the relative stiffness between a hepatic lesion and the liver parenchyma is presented. This method is based on the finite element simulation of the deformation that the liver undergoes during the breathing process.
