Perfluorocarbon Liquid in Traumatic Vitreous Hemorrhage and Retinal Detachment
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1993ABSTRACT Patients with penetrating ocular trauma also may have severe vitreous hemorrhage and associated retinal detachment. Removing the hemorrhage and repairing the detachment can be a difficult surgical problem. Besides the limited surgical view due to the hemorrhage, an incomplete separation of the posterior hyaloid membrane can allow the

Effect of leukopenia on experimental post-traumatic retinal detachment
Current Eye Research, 1994Macrophages are invariably present in the intraocular membranes of patients with traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). There are two sources from which these macrophages could be recruited: adjacent tissues and the systemic circulation. In the study described herein, the role of circulating white blood cells and monocytes in experimental ...

Management of Traumatic Hemorrhagic Retinal Detachment With Pars Plana Vitrectomy
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1990Traumatic hemorrhagic retinal detachment may prevent successful visual rehabilitation of eyes with severe posterior segment injury. We managed 19 consecutive cases of traumatic hemorrhagic retinal detachment with pars plana vitrectomy, scleral buckling, and fluid-gas exchange, with or without internal drainage of subretinal hemorrhage.

Compensibility in Traumatic Retinal Detachment
1981Ocular trauma is responsible for 10 to 1496 of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments in large series of patients (Witmer 1972). Since many patients wish to attribute their retinal disease to an injury in order to be reimbursed by their insurance or Workman’s Compensation, it behooves the attending ophthalmologist to know what factors to consider in ...
