A note on reliefs for traveling expenses to work [PDF]

open access: yes
Assuming that higher traveling expenses reduce traveling time, this paper considers reliefs for traveling expenses to work when a distorting wage tax is levied.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Research on Active Flow Control Method of NACA0012 Airfoil with Traveling Wave Structure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Traveling wave is an innovative active flow control technique that can remarkably mitigate flow separation. This paper employs numerical simulation to examine how traveling wave structures affect the NACA0012 airfoil.

Traveling wave tube circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A traveling wave tube (TWT) has a slow wave structure (SWS) which is severed into two or more sections. A signal path, connects the end of an SWS section to the beginning of the following SWS section.

Singular measure traveling waves in an epidemiological model with continuous phenotypes

open access: yes, 2018
We consider the reaction-diffusion equation \begin{equation*} u_t=u_{xx}+\mu\left(\int_\Omega M(y,z)u(t,x,z)dz-u\right) + u\left(a(y)-\int_\Omega K(y,z) u(t,x,z)dz\right) , \end{equation*} where $ u=u(t,x,y) $ stands for the density of a ...

Complementarity of Long‐Reads and Optical Mapping in Parkinson's Disease for Structural Variants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Long‐read sequencing and optical genome mapping technologies have the ability to detect large and complex structural variants. This has led to the discovery of novel pathogenic variants in neurodegenerative movement disorders. Thus, we aimed to systematically compare the SV detection capabilities of OGM and ONT in Parkinson's disease.

TRAVELER'S DIARRHEA

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 1997
Traveler's diarrhea occurs with considerable frequency in individuals traveling to underdeveloped countries. It is acquired through the ingestion of fecally contaminated food and water. Traveler's diarrhea is caused by a variety of bacterial, protozoal, viral, and parasitic organisms.

Controlling the onset of turbulence by streamwise traveling waves. Part 1: Receptivity analysis

open access: yes, 2010
We examine the efficacy of streamwise traveling waves generated by a zero-net-mass-flux surface blowing and suction for controlling the onset of turbulence in a channel flow.

Ketogenic Diet as an Epigenetic Therapy in SETD1B‐Related Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Histone lysine methyltransferases such as SETD1B regulate chromatin structure and gene transcription. Ketone bodies, including butyrate, act as histone deacetylase inhibitors. We report a 4‐year‐old boy with SETD1B‐related absence epilepsy, refractory to conventional medications, who achieved sustained > 90% seizure reduction on the Modified ...
