Asymptotic stability of traveling fronts in delayed reaction-diffusion monostable equations on higher-dimensional lattices

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
This article is concerned with traveling wave fronts for spatially discrete delayed reaction-diffusion equations on higher-dimensional lattices. Under the monostable assumption and some reasonable conditions, we prove the globally asymptotic stability

Existence and stability of traveling waves in a Keller-Segel system with nonlinear stimulation

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
In this article, we reformulate the Keller-Segel model by incorporating a nonlinear cellular stimulation term. We then investigate its dynamical behavior by reducing the Keller-Segel model to a dynamical system on a two-dimensional invariant flow.

Common Observations for Near-Source Ground Motions and Seismo-Traveling Ionosphere Disturbances Following the 2011 off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake, Japan

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2012
The time history and spatial dependence of seismic-wave propagation on the ground surface and through the ionosphere following the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake were reconstructed from dense seismic networks and from Global Positioning ...

Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...

Traveling wave fronts in a single species model with cannibalism and strongly nonlocal effect

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this paper we studied traveling front solutions of a single species model with cannibalism and nonlocal effect. For a particular class of kernels, the existence of traveling front solutions connecting the extinction state with the positive equilibrium

A Spatial Model to Describe the Dengue Propagation

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2007
Dengue is a human disease transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti. A dengue epidemic could start when infectious individuals (humans or mosquitoes) appear and could propagate in areas previously colonized by the mosquitoes.

Mechanically-driven spreading of bacterial populations

open access: yes, 2015
The effect of mechanical interactions between cells in the spreading of bacterial populations was investigated in one-dimensional space. A continuum-mechanics approach, comprising cell migration, proliferation, and exclusion processes, was employed to ...

Nonlinear stability of traveling wave fronts for nonlocal delayed reaction–diffusion equations

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2012
The authors study the nonlinear stability of traveling wave fronts for the nonlocal delayed reaction-diffusion equation \[ u_t=f\ast u-u+f(u(x,t), u(x,t-\tau )), \;\;x\in \mathbb{R}, \;\;t>0, \] where \(\tau \geq \) is a constant, \(f\in C^1(\mathbb{R})\) is a nonnegative even function and the following equalities are satisfied: \[ \int\limits_{\mathbb{

Robust Smart Superhydrophobic Cilia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To date, ciliated surfaces cannot withstand mechanical damage because cilia/wires are inherently fragile. By aligning magneto‐responsive, flexible, superhydrophobic microwires on the sidewall of vertical frames, the frames act as armors to protect microwires from mechanical damage; when needed, the microwires re‐align uprightly under a magnet field to ...

Structure And Dynamics Of Modulated Traveling Waves In Cellular Flames

open access: yes, 1994
We describe spatial and temporal patterns in cylindrical premixed flames in the cellular regime, $Le < 1$, where the Lewis number $Le$ is the ratio of thermal to mass diffusivity of a deficient component of the combustible mixture.
